    I answered, said hello and they hung up on me without saying anything. I think they were testing whether my number was still active.

    Called me 5 times over the past 2 days, answered once and they introduced themselves as Kevin with a heavy Indian accent talking about solar panels. Spam call.

    This number has rung me 3 times in the past 24 hours. I did not answer the first 2 and no message was left. I answered the 3rd but did not speak and it just hung up. Suggests to me it is an automated dial of some sort.

    Just heard a very undecipherable voice waffling on around dinner time so hung up. Fed up of these calls. Why can't the Australian Government put a stop to them.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
