0429 809 429 - 0429809429: A Telstra Scam Caller Exposed

I received 2 missed calls from this number earlier in the day and return the call at 5.30 pm. An Asian speaking young lady answered and quickly said, she was Jennifer calling from Telstra. She had called earlier as Telstra had a special on their mobile billing, which she would like to offer to me. They were offering their good customers 50% off their billing for 6 months.

I stated, I wasn't interested. She said ok, thank you, good by.

I knew it was a scam straight away for the following reasons:-

- All I said in the above conversation was hello and she went into the spiel straight away, without me explaining why I was calling.

- I don't have a mobile bill with Telstra.

- The offer seemed very generous and too good to be true.

I have blocked the number, after checking on Reverseau, which confirmed my suspicions.

100% certain this one's an Indian chick trying to pull a fast one. Avoid like the plague!

Had a call from this number too. Told the gal that she was probably calling from a dodgy line because it seemed like fraud. She wasn't having any of it, though. Good on ya love, but I'm not a muppet!

Had a dodgy caller trying to dig for my info. Struggled to get what she was saying, said I wasn't interested and hung up. They called back later, and when I told her I don't use Telstra, she just hung up again.

I received a call from this number where the caller initiated a sales pitch about Telstra services. I didn't answer the first call, but when I did answer the second time, I told her to stop trying to sell to me. After that, she had the audacity to call me a third time.

I missed two consecutive calls from this number but decided not to return the call.

I received a call from a woman claiming to represent Telstra. When I informed her that I wasn't a Telstra customer, she insisted that she had all my information and could cancel my account. I mentioned that I'm an authority on someone else's Telstra account and asked for the phone number linked to it. She repeated my number back to me, which I pointed out was associated with a business and not with Telstra. After this, she abruptly hung up on me.

This number called me three times in quick succession without leaving any message.

Just got a call from this scam number today. I've reported this number previously to ACCC. However, it still seems to be active.

I swear these Indian scammers think we are dumb. I like to mess with them by hitting random buttons every 20 seconds and when they ask what the noise is I tell them their calls are being traced. They usually hang up pretty quick once they hear that.

A woman with a strong Indian accent called me claiming to be from Telstra. She offered me a discount on my next six months' Telstra bills, but she wanted me to pay a fee first. I found this request ridiculous, laughed at her, and hung up because it seemed like a scam.
