I live in Yamba and have received the exact same messages this week after putting rental add on Gumtree! So glad I used my brain and thought something was dodgey!

I had the same thing today... What a jerk!!! My reply to paying upfront was this: Ok no problems, I would prefer to wait to see the viewing, I hope you understand as you have to be careful giving bank details with all of the Internet scams these days.

This is what I got back : Ok yes that's fine. I can assure you im no low life thief as I do not steal off young family's in need as that is a very low thing to do. I work very hard and would never ever do such a thing.

I knew something didn't seem right! Googled the number and found this! Hope this person gets caught.

If you choose so and you can pay half the bond/rent to me this morning to secure the property.. Ill sort something out with my brother for you to meet him around 6:00pm today or on a day that suits youo best... If you don't like it (im 100% sure you will) but if you don't ill provide a full refund without any hassel. Full address will be sent at 6:00am the day of the viewing. Ill message every one after the viewing to give them an answer.

Than got a bunch of photos of some fake property I sent a him a message.

Scam much!! This will b investigated... How dare you take advantage of people like that especially ones with medical bills for their kids !! .. Goodbye sick individual.

For a moment, I thought I got the house that I was looking for. I googled the phone number and the first result was this series of messages everyone has got.

The same thing happened to me today.

The message I got says.

Hi there guys.... Same thing happen to us today we put an ad on Gumtree and exactly the same story he told us he wanted cash upfront a deposit without us seeing the property and he said lease and keys are left with his brother and he was at work (fifo) I worked out something is fishy not right its a scam!! In sa.Unbelievable who the hell does this guy think he is!! Hope he gets caught and locked up!!

After putting an ad on Gumtree seeking a rental I receive a text from this number telling me about the house and that 3 other families are interested and the viewing is set up for 18/4/15 in Rockingham. They said they would rent the house to me if I paid the two weeks upfront by 12pm and then their brother would meet me at 6pm with the lease and keys.. Although it took a while to get these details out of them, they changed the story a bit. This was today 11/4/15. I caught on to him quite quickly and didn't transfer anything.

I received the same text message just today offering a house in Liverpool but didn't fall for the scam.

Similar story as all the others, this number appears to be a scam, for rental houses. He is a FIFO worker and left keys and lease with brother and wants a bond and rent.

Received a message from this number 5 minutes ago.

Telling about this lovely home in Joondalup for 450 a week, I thought awesome when can I view the house.

He then says there are 3 other families interested so if I would like to "Secure" the house I can pay the bond in full and he will have his brother meet me within the hour.

I think to myself thats abit odd so I said is it okay if I see the house first im available to view it right now.

He proceeds to say if you pay the bond blablabla.

So then I googled the number and this pops up :).

Im so glad I looked it up.

Must have thought I was some dumb idiot just going to pay before I have seen it lol.

We were to view this rental today and tried calling number with no luck of course, I thought this was odd when he asked for $2000 to be paid into his account to secure the house as three other families were also interested and the FIFO brother and keys story.

We lost a weekend birthday away with family but luckily no cash was handed over.

This number is a FRAUD! Wanting bond paid today into account but won't give address of property. Won't allow viewing until next week.

Says he is FIFO, and brother has keys and signed lease. I offered to meet brother and sign lease and pay bond. BOND NEEDS TO BE Paid by 5pm brother available after 5pm.

But still can't view property till mid next week. I have asked for brothers phone number to which I get no reply.

Same thing - tríed to scam my mother through Gumtree but luckily she got nervous.

Possibly uses the alias '"Daniel Wanton". The Commonwealth bank account he provided is in this name.

I suggest anyone that has an issue with this telephone number reports the incident to ACORN.

This person is a fraud fortunately I thought of this. I didn't send cash nothing. I am going to police to report this anyone should please do the same. Claims they cannot talk on phone has no email etc. Please be careful if you have suspicious feelings act on them.

I had a response from this number and after everything siunded so legit I actually made the deposit just today... Now I don't know what to do.

This number is being used in a scam to get money from people looking to rent properties in Australia!!

This person messaged me about a house they have for rent in respond to my Gumtree house. It all sounded all good to be true and after he was being super pushy about paying a deposit to secure the house and wouldn't give me the address or his name, I decided to Google his number and here's what I found. Be careful people. This guy is a scammer..

Could not even view house unless a $400 deposit is paid sent photos and all. Reckons once deposit paid will contact his brother to view house as he is fifo.

SCAMMER!! offering houses to rent, asks you to pay bond into their account which is ILLEGAL then you never hear from them again.
