A contributor has reported receiving a call from 0427 264 890 (also written as 0427264890) from what appeared to be a telemarketing operation. The caller already possessed the recipient's full name and mobile number, raising questions about how the number was obtained and whether this aligns with legitimate telemarketing practices.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why did the caller from 0427 264 890 already have my full name and number?
Telemarketing operations typically purchase or source contact lists from data brokers. The fact that 0427264890 had your details before calling suggests your information was obtained from a third-party list. This is common in the telemarketing industry but doesn't mean the call is legitimate - many scammers use similar tactics. You can reduce these calls by registering with the Do Not Call Register (donotcall.gov.au).
What should I do if 0427 264 890 calls me again?
Block the number immediately using your phone's settings. If multiple calls from 0427264890 continue, this violates Do Not Call compliance. Report the number to ACMA (acma.gov.au) and provide details about the dates and times of calls from 0427 264 890. Document each call for evidence.
Is 0427 264 890 a scam or just spam?
The single report indicates telemarketing activity from 0427264890 rather than an obvious financial scam. However, the caller's possession of your personal information and the high-pressure environment (multiple telemarketers in background) suggests it could escalate to scam tactics. Treat calls from 0427 264 890 with caution and don't share additional information.
Can I be added to a Do Not Call list to stop calls from 0427 264 890?
Yes. Register your number at donotcall.gov.au - the Australian Do Not Call Register. However, some organisations (charities, political parties, research) are exempt. If 0427264890 continues calling after 30 days, report the breach to ACMA. You can also block the number directly in your phone settings.
What should I tell the caller if 0427 264 890 calls and I answer by mistake?
Do not confirm or deny personal information, even if they already have details like your name and number. Simply say 'I'm not interested' and hang up. Do not ask to be removed from their list or request a callback - this confirms your number is active. Block 0427264890 immediately after hanging up.
How do I report 0427 264 890 to the authorities?
Report telemarketing breaches to ACMA (acma.gov.au) with details of the call date, time, and number (0427264890). If you suspect scam elements, also report to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au). You can share your experience on Reverseau to help others identify calls from 0427 264 890 and protect the community.
