I had a similar experience to the previously reported scam involving Gumtree. The caller messaged me via WhatsApp, requesting that I use their delivery service for an item listed on the site.

I received a similar story about a transaction connected to Gumtree and FedEx. The sender claimed they couldn't talk because they were busy putting their baby down, which raised my suspicions. This appears to be a scam!

Same as the others. A scam. Under name ~landlord. Additional information - if you call them you will go straight to voicemail of an older lady saying she can’t pick up the phone cause she is driving. Watch out folks! —xXScamBuster420Xx.

Total scammer!

This number contacted me minutes after I posted my ad on Gumtree and asked if ok if they arranged a courier service and even sent an official looking Auspost courier screen shot. I use Auspost all the time and I have never heard of them taking on responsibility of the financial payment of goods upon courier pickup.

Profile picture was a lady holding two babies but with the screen name ‘Landlord’ which immediately dodgy. And then I look up their number on this site and it seems like the lady holding the two babies (or the photo they have stolen) belongs to a scammer.

I listed an item for sale on Gumtree, and this number contacted me via WhatsApp. They wanted to use a service supposedly offered by Australia Post to pay me and arrange pickup for the item. Upon checking with my local post office, I discovered that this is a scam. I replied, stating that pickup was not convenient, and the scammer responded with a sad face. I then searched the number and found this thread confirming my suspicions.

I encountered what I believe to be a fraudulent courier service. Something felt off about their request for a courier pickup, so I researched the number online and found numerous negative reports. They contacted me via WhatsApp pretending to be from Australia, but their language hinted they were likely located overseas. When I confronted them about being scammers, they quickly deleted our chat and blocked me.

Similar to others, this individual tried to ask for details regarding a delivery service from Gumtree. I confronted them as a scammer, who pretended to be the innocent victim. Don’t fall for them!

This is a scam! Someone used a fake account to arrange for the pickup of an item I was selling on Gumtree. They claimed to be from FedEx and supplied a bank card number for payment. However, instead of receiving money, I was debited nearly $2000.

F

This person whatsapped me a couple of minutes after my advertisement went up on Gumtree. Looks innocent enough, a photo of a woman holding two babies and Kate Evans as the name. Scammer.
