Credit Corp Harassment Reports for 0420 848 157

Seven contributors have reported persistent unwanted contact from 0420 848 157 (also written as 0420848157), with strong indicators this is a Credit Corp debt collection number. Reports describe aggressive harassment tactics including repeated calls using different phone numbers to evade blocks, contact with employers and family members, and refusal to stop calling after explicit requests. One contributor documented 339 calls from various Credit Corp numbers.

What distinguishes these reports is the invasive nature of the outreach. Beyond standard debt collection calls, callers have researched contributors on Facebook, contacted corporate offices of employers, reached out to family and friends, and in one case asked for information about someone the recipient hadn't seen in over a decade. Multiple contributors report that when questioned about how 0420848157 obtained their number or which company was calling, callers refused to disclose this information or became evasive.

What Callers from 0420 848 157 Do and Say

Contributors report that calls from 0420 848 157 follow a pattern of aggressive debt collection tactics. Callers claim to be chasing debts that recipients deny owing, refuse to listen to explanations, and use bullying language despite financial hardship already disclosed. One contributor stated the caller "won't listen when I say I don't owe money" and described being "bullied about it."

When asked basic questions, callers refuse to identify themselves or their company. One contributor noted: "won't say who they are calling from and how they got my number or what the call is about." Another reported the caller claimed to have found the number "by search" despite the number not being publicly listed anywhere. Several contributors mention being asked for personal information or details about other people they know, with callers sometimes requesting information about individuals the recipient hasn't contacted in years.

A recurring tactic involves requesting specific dollar amounts that don't align with legitimate debts. One contributor was repeatedly asked about a "$15 closing fee which doesn't make sense." Multiple reports indicate callers become more aggressive when recipients ask for verification or company details.

Call Patterns and Contact Methods

The most striking pattern in reports about 0420 848 157 is the use of multiple phone numbers to circumvent blocks. One contributor explicitly states: "CreditCorp keeps harassing with different numbers" and another documented "339 calls" from various Credit Corp phone numbers. This rotating number strategy appears designed to defeat blocking attempts.

Beyond phone calls, contributors describe contact through social media and workplace channels. Reports mention callers researching targets on Facebook, contacting corporate offices of employers, and reaching out to family and friends. One contributor took legal action specifically citing "invasive calls" and noted they "contact via Facebook and reach out to family and friends, calls at least three times a week."

Notably, contributors report that explicit requests to stop calling are ignored. One contributor stated an ex-husband "asked them twice to stop calling his estranged family but they keep calling." This pattern of ignoring cease-contact requests appears across multiple reports spanning from 2023 to 2026.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 0420 848 157

If 0420848157 calls you claiming you owe a debt:

  • Do not: Provide personal information, confirm or deny debts, give details about other people, or agree to any payment arrangements on the spot
  • Do: Ask the caller to provide their full name, company name, and the exact debt amount in writing before proceeding
  • Do: Verify any debt claim independently by contacting the creditor directly using a phone number from your original contract or billing statement, not a number provided by the caller
  • Do: Request they stop calling and provide your request in writing
  • Do: Keep records of all calls including dates, times, and what was said
  • Do: Block the number immediately after your first interaction

If the caller refuses to identify their company or claims they "can't" provide this information, this is a major red flag. Legitimate debt collectors are legally required to identify themselves and the company they represent when asked.

If you believe 0420848157 has breached these requirements, document everything and consider making a formal complaint.

Calls and asks to speak to someone else that I know, won't say who they are calling from and how they got my number or what the call is about. They said they found my number by search but my number isn't listed publicly anywhere. Probably emotional/scare scammer. Number may be associated with Credit Corp, but if it was legitimate debt collection surely, they should disclose how they got my number and the company they are calling from if asked.

My husband received a call from this number today asking to speak to me his wife. We are unsure how and why she would call him if this pertained to another household member. This women said she could not say what the call was about as she could not say where she was calling from from in a friendly nature my husband told her never to call this number again. She was wuick to reply that due to privacy laws I could not devolve were she was calling from. There is no such law. It's simply because we all know how harassing it can be to take these type of calls. We have never paid for anything on credit so we are unsure why a credit debtor would be calling us. We reported it to the respective ombudsman and law reporting agency.

Called my mobile phone, a woman with an Australian accent saying her name is Christy said she wanted to speak to my housemate (I don't know how she got his name).

She told me that she would not disclose where she was from until she spoke to him.

He asked her where she was from and she said so quickly what the call was about (something about debt collecting) that he asked her to repeat it, she would not and said that the discussion cannot go any further until he disclosed his name and date of birth, we told her she is a scammer and promptly hung up, the same number as above, how do they get away with this when the number is displayed is beyond me, I've seen reports of this number from last year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 0420 848 157 a legitimate debt collector?

Reports from multiple contributors suggest 0420848157 is associated with Credit Corp debt collection, but the tactics reported raise serious concerns about legitimacy. Legitimate debt collectors will clearly identify their company name when asked, provide debt details in writing, and respect written cease-contact requests. The pattern of using rotating phone numbers to evade blocks, contacting employers and social media, and refusing to identify themselves when questioned are not standard legitimate collection practices. Verify any debt claim independently before engaging.

What should I do if 0420848157 asks about someone else I know?

This is a red flag. Debt collectors should only contact the person who owes the debt, not third parties seeking information about them. If 0420 848 157 asks you to confirm details about or provide information regarding someone else, do not provide any information. Tell them you cannot help and do not continue the conversation. This tactic has been reported multiple times on this number and may indicate fraudulent activity or privacy breaches. Document the call and report it to OAIC.

Can they keep calling from 0420848157 if I've asked them to stop?

No. Under Australian Consumer Law, if you've made a written request to 0420 848 157 asking them to stop calling, they must cease contact. Multiple contributors report that 0420848157 continued calling even after explicit stop requests were made. If this happens to you, document the dates of your stop request and subsequent calls, then report it to ACMA (acma.gov.au). Continuing to call after a documented cease-contact request is a violation of telecommunications regulations.

Why won't they tell me their company name when I ask?

Refusal to identify their company is a major warning sign. Legitimate debt collectors are required to provide their company name, the creditor name, and debt details when asked. Multiple contributors report that callers from 0420848157 refuse to disclose who they're calling from. This refusal suggests either fraudulent activity or unlawful collection practices. If they won't identify themselves, end the call and report it to AFCA and ACMA.

What does it mean if 0420848157 called my employer?

Contributors have reported that 0420848157 contacted their employers' corporate offices. This is an invasive tactic that goes beyond standard debt collection practice. While debt collectors can contact workplace numbers in some circumstances, contacting corporate offices rather than personal work lines, or making repeated workplace contact, may breach privacy and harassment laws. If 0420 848 157 has contacted your employer, report it to your HR department and lodge a complaint with ACMA, OAIC, and AFCA regarding the invasive contact method.

How do I block 0420 848 157 if they keep calling from different numbers?

Contributors report 0420848157 uses multiple phone numbers to evade blocks. While you should block 0420 848 157 immediately, blocking individual numbers won't stop other Credit Corp numbers. Instead, ask your phone provider about advanced call filtering options. More importantly, send a written cease-contact notice to Credit Corp's office (not just via phone) and report the harassment to ACMA. Provide ACMA with documentation of the multiple numbers and repeated calls despite your stop request - this pattern is exactly what regulators investigate.
