    Indian lady said she was from Vodafone offering me discounts on my monthly bill and I knew straight away it was a scam she actually sounded a bit intoxicated. Anyway she asked me for my Vodafone pin to proceed and I said I don’t have one. Then she said oh ok and hung up.

    Purported to be calling from Vodaphone. Called them out on running a SCAM, which they denied. Asked what SCAM they are running? Again caller denied this and said "As you wish, Sir" and hung up on me.

    I answered the call and had to wait maybe 20-30 seconds for somebody to answer. When they answered it was a foreign accent. Because of the delay and suspected "overseas" call I simply hung up.

    I didn't answer, luckily spam protection alerted me to the number. Might be the same guy that called Easter weekend and threatened me, by saying he knew where I was.

    Rang to say they were offering me 30% off my Vodafone bill for the next three months. I was in the movies and told them to ring back later. I contacted Vodafone who said they never ring to offer discounts. Have now blocked this number.

    Claimed to be calling from Vodafone to offer me, a loyal customer, a 30% discount for the next 3 months. Happy to proceed? Sure. Then please give me your 4 digit PIN for Vodafone and I will make the billing change right away...100% SCAM! Vodafone would never ask for a customers PIN.

    Claimed to be from Optus. Was a dodgy indian sounding guy who was not sure of himself. Said I was getting a refund for my bill due to poor coverage in my area and then asked for my CCard details and what my pin numbers were for the Optus app.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
