These people are scammers. Please do not return their call.
I have reported theme to the ATO Fraud service (which has a phone number). If you see this number displayed, when your phone is ringing, do not answer it, the lady at the ATO said, If you speak to them that is when they get really nasty. The message they left me was scary, threatening, spoke of a warrant for my address etc. If you receive one of these phone calls report it to the ATO, so they can shut these bad people down.
Just had a recorded call from them, rang back and they answered with hello, when I said hello they said welcome to the tax office. I said you are not the tax office and they hung up lol.
I had a voice call from this number threatening me with a warrant saying I had a TAX Fraud out on me. I called them back and they asked for my tax details. I told them I didn't have it on me so they wanted my licence number. I provided them with my licence number and name, address, fake date of birth but they seemed to have most of this info already. I've just spent two hours calling ATO etc to ensure that they don't claim to be me.
Just got a call from that number which was the second time...didn't answer but message was threatening arrest due to failure to pay tax etc etc...
Just had a voice mail left saying I will be arrested and a warrant is out for my arrest and saying I owe money scam.
My wife just had the same. But they took money out of her account so be careful and check bank accounts.
This caller claimed they were criminal investigations from ATO and I would be arrested within the next few hours for failing to respond to a registered letter sent 2weeks before. I was told I owed the ATO $8000 due to this investigation. Please make a report to the ATO if you receive any such call of this number. It is a linked exchange number and is a SCAM. DO NOT GIVE FULL NAME OR VARIFY ANY PERSONAL DETAILS. I had ATO on the other line at the same time to VARIFY all information and create a report.
I received a voicemail message to my mobile advising that an arrest warrant was about to be issued as we 'had a tax debt'. Did not say who they were but the implication was the ATO. Beware......
Also got a call from this number saying I would be arrested if I didn't pay over $4.000. They said they were from the ATO. Do not give them any information.
