Persistent Nuisance Calls from 03 9972 0233
The number 03 9972 0233 (also written as 0399720233) has generated 36 community reports describing relentless, unwanted calling patterns. Multiple contributors report receiving one to two calls daily from this Sydenham-based number, with callers consistently failing to leave voicemail messages. The reports span from late July 2023 onwards, with contributors describing a pattern of harassment that prompted them to block the number entirely.
A significant concern raised across reports is that 0399720233 appears designed to be difficult to call back, with several contributors attempting to return the call only to receive "call failed" messages. This callback failure pattern, combined with the persistent dialling behaviour, suggests deliberate evasion tactics.
What Callers from 03 9972 0233 Claim
When contributors do answer calls from 03 9972 0233, the callers typically claim to offer service upgrades. One contributor reported receiving a call from the Sydenham number asking about their Telstra internet service, despite the recipient using Optus. Another contributor received repeated calls regarding a "free hot water service upgrade" offer, with callers persisting despite the contributor explicitly mentioning they were registered on the Do Not Call Register.
Contributors who answered have noted that 03 9972 0233 operates from an Indian call centre, with one describing the caller hanging up immediately upon being identified. The urgency tactic appears evident in the hot water scam variant, where callers push for immediate engagement despite explicit do-not-call warnings.
Call Patterns and Behaviour
The calling behaviour from 0399720233 is highly distinctive. Multiple contributors report receiving persistent calls "multiple times over 2 days" or "at least one call a day, sometimes two," with no voicemail left after any attempt. One contributor noted that a message about "changing phone number and email" appeared on screen before they could answer, suggesting an automated pop-up accompanies the call.
Several contributors have flagged that after blocking 03 9972 0233, they no longer receive calls, confirming this as a source of harassment rather than legitimate business communication. The persistent, message-less calling strategy suggests either a robocall or callback-request system designed to wear down recipients into answering.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why does 03 9972 0233 keep calling if I don't answer?
Contributors report that 0399720233 uses a persistent calling strategy typical of automated scam systems or callback-request operations designed to wear you down into answering. One contributor received one to two calls daily with no voicemail left, which prompted them to block the number. The fact that you cannot call back ("call failed" errors) suggests the system is designed for outbound harassment only. This is not normal business behaviour-legitimate companies leave messages and can be reached in return.
What should I do if I answered a call from 03 9972 0233 and they asked about my internet service?
Hang up immediately and do not provide further information. One contributor reported that when they said they used Optus (not Telstra), the caller from 03 9972 0233 continued the pitch. This shows the caller is working from a script regardless of your actual service provider. Do not confirm your address, payment details, or account numbers. If they claim your service needs upgrading or cancelling, verify independently by calling your actual provider using a number from your bill-never use a number the caller from 0399720233 provides.
Is the 'free hot water service upgrade' from 03 9972 0233 real?
No. Multiple contributors have reported calls from 03 9972 0233 claiming to offer a free hot water service upgrade, with callers persisting even after being told they are on the Do Not Call Register. One contributor noted they received "a few times per day, every day" calls about this offer. Free upgrades that call you unprompted, refuse to take no for an answer, and fail to leave messages are hallmarks of scam operations. Legitimate service providers do not operate this way.
Why can't I call back 03 9972 0233?
Several contributors have reported receiving "call failed" messages when attempting to call back 0399720233. This is a deliberate design feature of many scam and harassing call operations-they want to call you, but you cannot contact them. Legitimate Australian businesses ensure their customers can reach them. The inability to call back combined with the persistent daily calling from 03 9972 0233 is a clear warning sign.
Should I report 03 9972 0233 to the Do Not Call Register?
Yes. If you are registered on the Do Not Call Register and 0399720233 continues calling you, lodge a complaint at donotcall.gov.au with details of the calls. One contributor explicitly mentioned being on the register and still receiving multiple daily calls from 03 9972 0233, which is a violation. Also report the number to ACMA at acma.gov.au so they can investigate the persistent offender. Block the number in your phone settings immediately.
What does it mean that 03 9972 0233 is from an Indian call centre?
One contributor identified that the caller was from an Indian call centre and hung up immediately, suggesting outsourced scam operations. While not all Indian-based calls are scams, when combined with other red flags from 0399720233-persistent message-less calls, false service upgrade claims, inability to call back, and operation despite Do Not Call Register registration-it indicates an overseas scam operation targeting Australian phone numbers. Do not engage, do not provide information, and block immediately.
