The phone number 03 9967 1729 / 0399671729 has come to light as a suspicious telemarketer. Reports from various users indicate that this number is involved in deceitful practices, particularly targeting individuals under the guise of health insurance comparison services.

Classification of the Phone Number

Given the nature of user reports, 03 9967 1729 / 0399671729 is classified as a telemarketer with malicious intent, rather than a legitimate call. The callers have been noted to specifically request sensitive personal information, which raises red flags.

Analysis of User Feedback

Numerous users have expressed concerns over the manner in which the callers operate. On 19 March 2025, one user noted that the caller left no message, suggesting that the intention was to probe for callbacks without solidifying their identity or purpose. This is a common tactic among scammers to entice victims into revealing personal details.

Further insights from calls reported on 20 March 2025 reveal that the caller employed a subcontinental accent and utilised familiar tactics such as knowing the recipient's name. This sets off alarm bells as it signals premeditated outreach, insinuating that they may have procured users' personal data illicitly. One user shared a narrative wherein the caller presumed detailed knowledge about their private health insurance, a highly personal matter, which underscores the coercive technique seen in scams.

The Health Insurance Scam Spectrum

The reported behaviour aligns with a prevalent scam pattern where callers pose as representatives seeking to offer health insurance comparisons or updating current policies. The combination of alarming narratives, such as claiming breaches in personal data systems (as highlighted by a user on 21 March 2025), outlines a very concerning trend in telemarketing activities connected to health-related services.

What Should You Do?

If you receive a call from 03 9967 1729:

  • Do not provide personal information: Legitimate companies will never request sensitive data like private health details over the phone.

I received a call from this number saying they are from Telstra and that we had a breach on our IP address. She then started to ask questions such as if we do online shopping via our internet. I told her I would ring Telstra direct at which point she said: 'okay, okay' and hung up.

If that's not a scam call, then I don't know what is.

A dodgy telemarketer who knew my name, somehow.

Something about comparing health insurance policies.

I told him I didn’t understand as I was mentally incapacitated and he hung up.

The caller, with a subcontinental accent, tried to get me to give him the name of my private health insurance. He wanted to set me up with a health insurance comparison deal.

    He knew my name, (somehow???).

I told him I didn’t know anything as.

I was mentally incapacitated and he hung up.

The caller did not leave a message, so I suspect this may be a spam call or a scam.
