The consistent pattern involves male callers with Indian accents claiming that fraudulent charges of $1,399 for an iPhone 17 have appeared on the recipient's Amazon account, allegedly purchased from California. All reports indicate the caller attempted to gain remote access to the recipient's phone by requesting them to download the ConnectWise app.

When contributors expressed hesitation or attempted to delay the conversation, callers from 03 9961 5858 applied immediate pressure, insisting the matter required urgent resolution and refusing to allow callbacks at a later time.
What Callers from 03 9961 5858 Say and Do
Contributors report that callers from 03 9961 5858 open with urgency, claiming fraudulent activity has occurred on the recipient's Amazon account. The caller then proposes sending a refund form, but immediately shifts the conversation toward gaining remote access to the victim's device.
Specific tactics reported in calls from 0399615858 include:
- Claiming an iPhone 17 worth $1,399 was purchased from a US location without authorisation
- Stating a refund form needs to be completed to reverse the charge
- Insisting remote phone access via ConnectWise is the only way to complete the refund process
- Refusing to allow callbacks or delays, with one caller demanding to know exactly when the recipient would be available
- Using implied threats, such as "I hope no one else buys more iPhones on your account during that time"
One contributor noted the caller became persistent when told they didn't have an Amazon account, suggesting the scammer operates regardless of whether the victim actually uses Amazon services.

What Our Users Reviewed
Indian with really bad English claimed to be Harry Wilson from Amazon Security.
He claimed there was a “red flag” on my account where someone had purchased an iPhone 17 using my account. He said the purchase was made in California.
I said “that’s fine, it was me, I am there now on holiday”
He then seemed a bit perplexed and seemed to go off script and said “oh no that just opened a big can of worms because I can see lots of charges going on your account as I am talking to you”
I said “it’s ok, my family and I are on a shopping spree”
He said “but these charges are coming from all over the world”
I said “it really is fine, we are on holiday- but not all vacationing in the same location”
I don’t think he knew what to say next so I just cut the call short and said I was at the checkout buying 10 x $500 gift cards (a ploy these scammers ask people to purchase, but I got in before he did)
I then hung up and blocked.
Look - I have never shopped with Amazon so I know this guy was a scammer. He just got the wrong gal at the wrong (well right) time, as the I spent wasting his time, that could have saved someone from legitimately getting scammed.
SCAM CALLER PRETENDING TO BE Amazon!
I got a call from a guy with an indian accent. He said it was an urgent matter and he was calling from Amazon. He claimed someone had used my Amazon account to buy an iPhone 17 for $1,399. Said the person who's purchased the phone was traced to California.
He then went on to say that they needed to reverse the charge and send me a refund form which he would help me fill out, but the only way he could help with the form was through remote access to my phone.
He said I needed to go to the App Store on my phone and download an app call Connect Wise.
I knew this was a scam from the start as I don't have an Amazon account, so told him I was on the train and didn't want to discuss my details in public, so I would call him back when I got off at my stop. He said that was not possible, and he would call me back and demanded to know how many minutes until I reached my destination. I said 20 minutes to which he replied "well I hope no one else buys any more iPhones on your account during that time"
I said well that's how long the train takes.
He then asked me to get off at the next stop and we could talk then.
I said "no, I will call you"
I then hung up and blocked the number.

No. The number 0399615858 is being used by scammers impersonating Amazon. The Victoria area code (03) may be spoofed or registered to a VoIP service used by the scammers.
