Understanding Calls from 03 9880 2389

The phone number 03 9880 2389 / 0398802389 has raised significant concerns among Australian users, being identified primarily as a telemarketing scam involving solar panels. Multiple reports indicate a common pattern where callers claim to represent government initiatives regarding solar rebates, yet these calls often come from dodgy providers who disregard the Do Not Call Register.

The Scam Explained

Reports from users paint a clear picture of persistent and undesirable phone calls. For instance, many individuals noted the number called repeatedly without leaving a message, which is a classic indicator of a spam or scam call.

On 22 June 2022, one user highlighted that the lack of a voicemail and constant ringing contributed to their belief that the number might be part of a scam. Moreover, another review from 26 June detailed an interaction where the caller claimed to conduct a survey regarding solar rebates but hung up when the recipient attempted to assert their rights under the Do Not Call Register. This behaviour supports suspicions that 03 9880 2389 / 0398802389 may belong to a less-than-reputable telemarketing operation.

Recognising the Warning Signs

Several key characteristics can help identify this number as part of a scam:

  • High Frequency of Calls: Many users reported receiving multiple calls in quick succession, often without a message.
  • Hanging Up: Respondents frequently noted that when challenged, the callers would abruptly end the conversation.
  • Claims of Legitimacy: The callers often evade questions regarding their method of obtaining personal information, which raises further red flags regarding their legitimacy.

What You Can Do

If you encounter calls from 03 9880 2389 / 0398802389, here are the recommended steps:

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call, don't engage with the caller. Politely hang up if they start asking questions about solar panel services.
  • Report the Number: Consider reporting this number to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) or use platforms like Reverseau for more insights.
  • Utilise Call Blocking Features: Take advantage of your smartphone's call-blocking features or apps that can help filter out unwanted calls.

In conclusion, the phone number 03 9880 2389 / 0398802389 is flagged as a scam related to solar panel telemarketing. Stay vigilant and informed to avoid falling victim to such deceptive practices.

I received three calls from this number on different days, but I did not pick up. They did not leave any messages, which makes me think it might be spam.

The caller claimed they were reaching out about a government rebate for solar energy. When I asked how they obtained my number, as it is on the Do Not Call Register, they mentioned it was sourced from the electoral roll. This practice is not allowed, so I suspect this call is either a scam or from dubious companies. Please be cautious!

I have received numerous calls that I consider to be scams, so I do not answer them at all.

This number calls me repeatedly and never leaves a voicemail. It's very intrusive.

The number above tried ringing 3 times on the 27/6/22 around 4 pm. So I thought I'd ring them back (has to be scammers?) asking me about solor panels > I said no (TRUE) but said not interested, and she hung up. Indian? Voice those people.

G
Gier

I answered the call but hung up immediately because I didn't recognize the number. There was no voicemail message left, which leads me to believe it is likely spam.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be from Greensurvey, supposedly conducting a government survey about solar rebates. When I mentioned that I am on the Do Not Call Register and expressed my intention to report them, they hung up on me multiple times. This behavior is incredibly unprofessional, and I believe they should face consequences for their unsolicited calls - I consider this a clear scam!

When a caller continually rings your phone without leaving a message, it raises suspicion that it may be a scam call.
