Some bloke named Rain with a thick Filipino accent rang me up from AGL, right? He had these tempting offers but rang from two different numbers. I feel like an absolute goose for giving him my details after all that. Just a heads up, folks, watch your backs!

This caller claimed to be from AGL, but I’m feeling a bit dodgy about it all. They rang me the day before trying to rope me into their internet and mobile plans. I said no, but this bloke wouldn't back off! Spent ages trying to convince me, even said they’d 'just call back later'. Not sure what to make of this, something feels fishy!

Oi, I had a couple of missed calls from 03 9649 4842 while I was on the clock. I let it go to voicemail and, surprise surprise, they didn’t drop any message. Did a little digging and turns out it's AGL marketing – something I never signed up for! So, I’ve blocked the number. Just goes to show, a proper business would’ve sent me an email, right?

Called me 4 times in one day.

First call I said no thank you.

Second call was asking if I had thought about what they said on the previous call, again said no thank you.

Third call tried to sell me National Broadband Network again.

Fourth call was asking if I had considered what they tried selling in previous 3 phone calls.

Bit annoying.

I contacted AGL using the phone number I found on Google and was directed to their customer resolutions department. The representative located a note from a few days ago which suggested they may have attempted to call me regarding NBN matters. According to the representative, the number I called, (03) 9649 4842, is legitimate, so there’s no need for concern. Everything is fine!

This is not a scam; it was actually AGL's marketing/sales team reaching out to discuss their new phone and NBA deals. I requested the details to be emailed to me, and upon checking my AGL account, I found the offers matched what they were selling over the phone. I also reached out to AGL directly to confirm that the call came from a legitimate phone number.

I did not answer the call, and they did not leave a voicemail. Based on their behavior, I suspect they are scammers. It's frustrating—if only they would find an honest job instead of bothering people!

I am an AGL customer for my gas and electricity and when I am late paying my bill I start getting calls from this number.

I am pretty sure it is a legit AGL call centre, or at least a contracted call centre, but I still don't answer the calls cause they always try to up-sell other services. They must receive some commission $$ for every up-sell..

A persistent caller contacted me regarding a mobile phone chip, despite the fact that my gas provider is the Australian Gas and Light Company. I expressed that I did not want or need this offer, and I feel that their constant calls are very unwelcome.

The caller was polite and offered to send me an email detailing the offer, so I could review it before calling back in two days.

I received a call trying to persuade me to switch my internet and mobile phone service to AGL. However, since I am already an AGL customer, I am unsure if this is a legitimate call from them. I recommend blocking this number.

Just got a call from (03) 9649 4842! This was on Mobile phone! No message nor spoken "AI" or "HUMAN"

Voice "Recognition"? (number gave Australia prefix > +61 3 9649 4842? Nearly tempted to "PICK UP"

But chose to "Wait"! Suggestion claim, s report, s possibly this "Credible" number being somewhat seconded for use as a "SCAMMER"! (Would it be TELSTRA connected theoretically?)

This is just an AGL marketing team trying to sell add on products - waste of time - ignore.

Someone has called both my mobile and landline multiple times but did not leave any voicemail. I'm uncertain whether it is a scammer, a charity, or just a call center trying to reach me.
