    "Anne Fitzgerald" from "Bullying Australia" rang again today. This time a 005 prefix showed up.. She is a well spoken woman who is a complete scammer, and has rung me for various phony causes over several years. She must be blind to the fact that some people always recognise a distinctive voice. For an investment scam she called herself Mary. Never donate to her, I would say it is all for her own needs. Be aware. I dread to think how many kind people she has conned, as she can almost sound plausible at times.

    Start the call with $250 donation and drop to $20? Disgraceful! I understand contact centre environments and don't blame the agent. When the agent ends call cos they can't deal with reality its a very poor experience. Spoke with Anne Fitzgerald. Campaign is disgraceful. I've spent thousands on family members needing support through bullying and suicide attempts - this is a pointless level of donation. Get people on board who know the effects of suicide attempt rather than reading a script and hanging up when don't know how to address comments.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
