I got a call hrs ago from this scammer on my work phone. Rang back 90137769 to verify the call. Yes, person claimed to be from ATO - obviously lying on the investigation. I just hanged up as this is a baseless claim.
Do not pick up! ATO SCAM!
The people behind this scam are probably in China. Our Givernment will do nothing about Chinese people attacking Australians so we are on our own here. That being the case it’s very important that we all let each other know about the scams. If the scammers are Australian and they do get caught they’ll get nothing more than a slap on the wrist and let go as the judicial system does very little to protect us honest citizens from the criminals.
Voice message suggested something about tax fraud. I hung up. Clearly a spammer.
Spam, don't answer.
Scam call. Claiming to be from the ATO.
My tax file number apparently has been used for fraud and I will be arrested unless I have it sorted out.
Why would they give me a heads up that I am gonna to be arrested?
