In today's digital age, it's crucial to remain vigilant against potential scams, and the recent reports surrounding the number 03 8872 7910 serve as a stark reminder. This number, linked to what appears to be a deceptive debt recovery agency, has prompted complaints primarily categorised as a scam.
Users have described receiving persistent calls from this number, with many expressing confusion and frustration regarding their legitimacy. Some reports suggest that this number is used by individuals posing as representatives from a company claiming to be Mercantile Access, a supposed debt recovery agency. Alarmingly, when individuals have chosen to call back, they were asked to confirm their personal details—an obvious red flag in any such interaction.
One detailed report dated 21 March 2024 elaborated on a harrowing experience where the caller insisted on confirming information related to a supposed ambulance debt. The individual reported that they had previously verified their membership with Ambulance Victoria and found no discrepancies. This discrepancy points to potential fraudulent activity, as legitimate companies would not demand personal information in such a manner.
Another user review from 26 April 2024 expressed extreme frustration, characterising the ongoing communications as not merely spam, but as aggressive and harassing. This kind of behaviour is not only unprofessional but also indicative of the tactics often employed by scammers aiming to threaten or intimidate potential victims.
Given the persistent nature of these calls and the alarming reports associated with them, it is recommended to:
- Do not engage: If you answer a call from this or similar numbers, hang up immediately to avoid giving out any personal information.
- Report the number: Use a reverse phone lookup service such as Reverseau to check reports on numbers you do not recognise.
- Block the number: After verifying its suspicion, consider blocking the number on your device to prevent future calls.
- Consult with a professional: If you suspect they might have your details or if the harassment persists, contact local authorities or a legal adviser.

This number has called me for 3 weeks straight, it doesn't even ring and no voice messages left. I called back and they say they are from mercantile access a debt recovery agency, they asked me to confirm my personal details and I refused and hung up. I then googled and called the proper line. Mercantile access have no record of any debt with me nor should they. The constant calls are beyond annoying and they call from 4 other numbers also, this is in regards to an ambulance debt, I have a ambulance membership and had previously called ambulance victoria to double check my membership was still okay as the calls starting rolling in and nothing was owing and my membership is fine.
