    Ever since I activated my number with Boost mobile all I do is get spam phone calls daily and this is one of them, even though I'm on the "do not call register"

    Never pick up any phone numbers you don't recognise. If you do - you may get charge for it from your service provider. Most people may not know or even aware about this. It is hidden in the contract once you sign up. Their customer service won't tell you. Always blocking the phone number too but the same phone number keeps popping up; even if you block it.

    From what I have discovered so far, most phone numbers using the prefix 03 8588 39... Are either from Next Steps Australia, The Fund Raising Centre, Australian Charities or Full Moon Finance. As none of these callers ever leave messages, I would suspect that they are all of an illegitimate nature. As for myself, I let them all go to voicemail without ever picking hem up.

    The number called. I answered almost immediately. As soon as I said "hello", it hung up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
