The Scam Playbook: What to Expect from Callers

For instance, one report on 18 October 2024, detailed a call from an individual claiming to be from ANZ, who had knowledge of a transaction the user believed was linked to a scam. A text message from a sender claiming to represent ANZ Bank stated they would call me soon about an ANZ matter. The sender's number was not visible in the text details. This same person sent me a similar text message this week from the number (02) 7231 6200. This raises suspicions about their legitimacy.

Got a call stating he's from ANZ with a very strong Indian accent. Asked about a transaction we made back in April which we knew was made to a scammer. Didn't ask for any other info but as you know ANZ uses voice ID so we then contacted ANZ to deregister the voice ID. During my call with ANZ they couldn't find any record of ANZ staff reaching out to us today.
