Some heavy accented guy called Richard claimed I had fraudulent charges on my pay pal account. Apparently someone in Texas had attempted to purchase some bitcoins. Richard asked me if I had given my password to anyone. I said no. He said he needed my email address and password so he could put a hold on my account.

Told him no way. He then said he was sending me a text message and I had to read out the code. Again told him no. He then started screaming at the top of his voice at me saying “you are a stupid f*king bitch, I will get you”

I hung up and blocked the number.

Caller identified himself as Richard from PayPal and was advising me that my account had been compromised and they had discovered a fraudulent charge for $349.99 for Bitcoin.

(I don’t have a PayPal account)

He said to quickly remove this charge, I needed to read him an email they had sent me. But before I was to read the email, he needed my email address. I said “I thought you said you had just sent me an email” he said “take this seriously and tell me your email address linked to your PayPal account”

I made up a fake email address as janet.jackson@hotmail (a Janet Jackson song was on my tv at the time:-D)

He then said it wasn’t corresponding to the email address they had on file. I then said “well why are you asking me for my email if it doesn’t correspond? My name is Janet Jackson and it’s the only email I have.

At this point I could hear a lot of call centre noise in the background and they were all yelling obscenities.

He then said “I’ve sent you a 6 digit code to your phone via text, can you read it out?”

No message came through, but I made up a fake 6 digit code.

He told me it was incorrect and I had to give him the code. I repeated the fake number. He then started yelling at me to give him the real code.

I then remembered I had a whistle near by and blew it really loud into the phone.

He then got extremely aggressive and yelled “give me your code now you f*king bitch”

I blew the whistle again, hung up on him & blocked the number.
