Telstra Impersonation Reports for 03 7050 0293

Two contributors have reported contact from 03 7050 0293 (also written as 0370500293), with one flagging a concerning impersonation scam. The reported caller claimed affiliation with Telstra and referenced the recipient's internet IP address as being linked to their account. When the contributor didn't engage with the caller's claims, the call went silent - a common tactic used by scammers to avoid confrontation or verification requests.

The local service number 0370500293 is allocated to Symbio Networks Pty Ltd in Victoria, but reports suggest callers are falsely claiming to represent Telstra. This mismatch between the actual service provider and the claimed identity is a red flag for impersonation scams targeting Australian internet users.

What Callers from 03 7050 0293 Claim

The contributor who answered the call from 03 7050 0293 reported that the caller referenced their internet IP address and claimed it was linked to Telstra. This is a classic social engineering approach - mentioning technical details about your connection to build false credibility. The caller's silence when not receiving immediate engagement suggests they may be using scripted or recorded messaging, or backing away when questioned.

The use of IP address references is designed to make the scam seem legitimate, as it implies the caller has access to technical account information. In reality, scammers often source this information from data breaches or generic caller databases rather than from actual Telstra systems.

Report Patterns and Timing

One contributor who missed a call from 0370500293 noted the frustration of attempting to return the call only to receive a message that the number couldn't be connected. This is another common pattern with scam operations - they screen return calls or use dynamic call routing to prevent callbacks, making verification difficult.

The two reports about 03 7050 0293 span different interaction types: one answered call in February 2026 and one missed call in May 2025, suggesting this number may have been used intermittently for scam activity over several months.

Called about my internet IP linked to Telstra, went silent when I didn't engage

R

I received a call from o3 7050 0293.. I was doing exercises in different room. When I returned the call one or 2 minutes later I got 'your call cannot be connected, please check the number and try again'.

It is a waste of time. I have no idea who was trying to contact me. I have made (and paid for) two calls - it is a waste of money too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 03 7050 0293 claiming to be from Telstra when it's registered to a different company?

Scammers regularly impersonate major service providers like Telstra by spoofing or misusing legitimate phone numbers. The number 0370500293 is allocated to Symbio Networks Pty Ltd, but the caller falsely claimed Telstra affiliation. This is impersonation fraud - the scammer is banking on you not verifying the actual caller's identity. Always hang up and call Telstra directly using the number on your bill.

What does it mean when a caller from 03 7050 0293 mentions my IP address?

Mentioning your IP address is a social engineering tactic to make the scam seem credible. One contributor reported the caller from 03 7050 0293 referenced their internet IP to claim authority. Scammers obtain IP information from data breaches or generic databases, not from real Telstra systems. Telstra will never contact you unsolicited about your IP address linked to their service.

Why did the call from 0370500293 go silent when I didn't engage?

A contributor who answered the call from 0370500293 reported the caller went silent when they didn't immediately respond to claims. This is common with scam operations - silence or hanging up happens when the target doesn't show signs of engagement or belief. The caller may switch tactics or move to the next number. Silent or non-responsive calls are a sign the caller's legitimacy is questionable.

What should I do if I missed a call from 03 7050 0293 and want to know who called?

One contributor attempted to return a missed call to 03 7050 0293 and received a message that the number couldn't be connected. If you receive a similar outcome, it's a strong indicator the number is being used for scam activity. Do not repeatedly attempt to call back 0370500293. Instead, check your phone records for any context and report the number to Scamwatch at scamwatch.gov.au.

Is 03 7050 0293 a legitimate Telstra number?

No. Community reports indicate 03 7050 0293 (0370500293) is being used for impersonation scams falsely claiming Telstra affiliation. The number is registered to Symbio Networks Pty Ltd, a Victorian local service provider - not Telstra. If you need to contact Telstra, use the number on your bill or visit telstra.com.au. Never call back unsolicited callers claiming to be from Telstra.

Should I block 03 7050 0293 on my phone?

Yes. Given the impersonation reports about 03 7050 0293, blocking 0370500293 is a sensible step to prevent repeat calls. Most smartphone operating systems allow you to block numbers directly in your phone settings or contacts app. After blocking, consider reporting the number to Scamwatch and your telecommunications provider so other Australians can be warned about this number's scam behaviour.
