In the vast landscape of phone numbers, there are some that stand out for all the wrong reasons. The number 03 7037 3193 falls into the category of suspicious telemarketer calls, primarily connected to dubious offers regarding hot water services. User reports have raised significant red flags about this caller, hinting at a potential scam targeting unsuspecting residents all over Australia.

User Experiences and Warnings

The insights gathered from various user reviews suggest that this number has been persistent and often bothersome. A user report from 28 January 2022 describes a conversation that began with an enticing promise of a free hot water service. However, the caller's approach seemed calculated, as they pressed for personal information before suddenly declaring that the service could not be provided due to the location of the hot water tank. Such tactics point to a classic telemarketing strategy often employed in scams, where the ultimate aim is either to gather sensitive information or simply to harass the recipient into responding.

Another review dated 31 January 2022 further scrutinised the claims made by the caller, stating explicitly that the individual was offering an "electric hot water system switch" under the guise of government initiative. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the name linked with the number, ‘SMARS’, is tied to an Indian private company that has since been struck off. This connection to a defunct company raises serious doubts about the legitimacy of the phone calls.

SUSPECTED SCAM:

CLAIMING TO BE CALLING RE FREE SWITCH TO ELECTRIC HOT WATER SYSTEM VIA GOVERNMENT.

***Probably using a number that was previously allocated to an Indian based private Company that no longer exists.***

I rang this number back because there was the possibility of it being an extra number for a legitimate company.

The person who answered had a strong accent but eventually I was able to understand that the name of the company she claimed to represent was 'SMARS'.

'SMARS Infrastructure Private Limited Company' is/was an Indian registered non-government private company with a current status of "Strike Off". Their start up date was 01 September.2010.

This caller claims to be offering a free hot water service and asks numerous questions. However, they later say they can't provide the service because my current hot water tank is located inside the house. What's troubling is they keep calling back as if they don’t remember our earlier conversation. Is this a scam?
