    Heard people's voices in background. Then caller said he was from a company and named it. I asked him to rename the company and he did not. Instead he said he was asking me about my car accident. I asked him what the company name was. I could hear other people in the background and assumed it was a call centre of SCAMMERS.

    Indian/Asian caller. Called to discuss insurance about a work accident I was in. Told them I wasn't in an accident and they hung up.

    Yet another call supposedly from "the insurance" in regards to a car accident. Caller unable to give me any details that they would have if it was a legitimate call and top it off, I haven't driven for years and don't own a car.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
