    A criminal who works somewhere in the handling of international shipping will get your number from packages you are going to receive, they hand over these numbers to various colleagues who will call you and pretend to be some official shipping company, and then insist that you give personal information or threaten that your package will be sent back, essentially ransomware for your mail.

    Just wait for the package and ignore the scammer.

    First off, the review from Anonymous from 8 MONTHS AGO is word for word the same as the review posted 4 DAYS AGO!!!!!!

    Anyway who posts this on ANY review site:

    It is actually FEDEX. They will be calling to advise Customs duties, AQIS fees, etc., for the import. You’ll have 5 days to pay for your incoming goods, or they’ll return it to sender and you incur further fees for shipping. You will find they are based in Phillipines. I deal with them all the time. They are frustrating because it’s difficult to get an Aussie voice to deal with probs. Try 132610 - you’ll get the same voices, it’s FEDEX.

    Is PART OF THE SCAM!!!!

    My experience:

    Stated they were from Fedex (no idea how they got my mobile number) and that they wanted my email address. Fedex HAVE my email address. Spoofing a Melbourne/Victoria telephone number. Most likely from the Philippines by the sound of the accents. Please folks, don't give them any info. If you are waiting on a delivery from Fedex (which in Australia will be via StarTrack (owned by Australia Post) or Australia Post themselves in the vast majority of cases, get in touch with Fedex directly.

    A few days after I bought something on eBay in Poland I got a phone call from (03) 7001 1487 on Saturday morning. The parcel is being sent with FedEx.

    With a very strong Indian or Asian accent, an aggressive female voice said that my parcel was on its way and delivery would be quicker if I paid the GST upfront.

    The call woke me up from sleeping, so rather than try and figure out what was going on I put it to her to email me. I supplied my email address.

    Sure enough, there was an email a few minutes later, with a low quality scan of the address label that will be on the parcel. This scan also contained details of the item that I bought, so the scammers have access to FedEx details somehow. The scan also has the name and address of the eBay seller, and the correct value of the contents.

    I missed two more calls from the same number while I was asleep on Sunday morning.

    On Monday afternoon I received another email with the same scan of the address label. This email claimed that the parcel was in Australia, but tracking on the Fedex web site shows it still being in Poland.

    The email refers to Australian Customs with a lower case “c”, and has nothing to show how they have arrived with the amount that they want.

    This one’s actually a tad confusing. There are enough indications that this is a scam, but there is information that can only be obtained from FedEx.

    I couldn't tell if this was legit or not? Fedex just asking for a name. But they knew my name before I called.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
