I got a message left on my answering machine. No identifier stated, just that I or my lawyer call this number back and not to ignore the message. Not going near that.
I just got this same call. I rang up and it sounded really dodgey like someone from overseas put it together.
I received an automated call at 7:15 one morning allegedly from ATO. I hung up immediately The next day 2 recorded messages asking to call this number.

The Melbourne Australian Taxation Office number legitimately is 132861.
First in the morning received a call from private number, it was an automated number that "calling from ATO blah blah, call us on 0359027990 ASAP". I neglected it because its a private number.
After 2 hrs missed the call from this number and received a voice message about Call us ASAP some fraud has been filed by someone. When I called a person named "David Black" received and repeating the same thing that contact your lawyer that some fraud has been filed against your tfn". I didn't provide any info, I then directly called to ATO to file this scam.
So be aware this is total scam. Block it or file it to ATO.

Had 2 phone calls in the space of 2 hours. Have reported then to ATO. Rang the number back and they answered ATO - very rude man. Told him that I had reported them to the appropriate authorities.
I have two calls from this number, private number so I don't bother answering.
Shame badly recorded message both times.
I used work at the ATO reporting these SCAMS, will answer next time to put the wind up them.
FYI: The ATO won't ring you and not leave details of who is calling, also the return number is a 13 or 1300 number.
