Identifying the Threat: 03 5825 5813

In today’s digital age, receiving unexpected calls has become commonplace, but not all calls are what they seem. The number 03 5825 5813 has raised red flags among users, specifically indicating connections to an Amazon scam.

Understanding the Scam

User reviews consistently describe similar experiences concerning this number. Notably, a reported incident on 16 July 2021 highlighted an automated call where the recipient was instructed to authorise a payment of XXX dollars for an iPhone 11 reportedly ordered from Amazon. This leads to the classification of 03 5825 5813 as part of a scam operation targeting unsuspecting individuals.

Why This is a Scam

The nature of the call—a robotic voice delivering a pre-recorded message—is a key indicator of fraud. Scammers typically use such tactics to create urgency and confusion. Legitimate companies, like Amazon, do not solicit sensitive financial information via automated messages or threat of unauthorised transactions.

How to Handle Such Calls

  • Do Not Engage: If you recognize a suspicious number and choose not to answer, it’s wise to stick to your judgement.
  • Hang Up: If you answer and realise it’s a scam, simply hang up. Do not provide any personal information.
  • Report the Number: Use platforms like Reverseau to report the number and warn others, as many users do to ensure a communal defence against such tactics.
  • Block the Number: Most smartphones allow you to block unwanted numbers, offering a hassle-free way to avoid future calls.

Stay Informed

As scammers grow more sophisticated, remaining vigilant is crucial. Regularly consulting resources such as Reverse Phone Lookup Australia can help identify suspicious numbers, allowing you to protect yourself from potential scams. Remember, if you ever have doubts about a call, trust your instincts and verify the number or context via reliable sources.

In conclusion, 03 5825 5813 is a scam-focused number linked to manipulative practices under the guise of an Amazon transaction. Staying informed and cautious can aid significantly in preventing fraud. If you’ve been affected, take action to report your experience and contributed to a more informed community.

Just received a call from this number, didn't pick up because I know its an Amazon scam. They left a voicemail anyway and its just an automated robotic call saying I need to authorise XXX dollars for an iPhone 11 I apparently ordered from Amazon. I received the exact same call last week from another Shepparton Landline number where I actually did answer, and got the same automated voice recording which is how I new it was a scam this time.
