    Same as previous comments, had a missed call earlier today and just answered another call from this number.

    Caller claimed my Telstra internet is about to be disconnected. After having a bit of fun with him, I asked him where he was based and he provided a Sydney address... I told him, "that's funny, I think something is wrong with your caller ID"... the call ended at this point.

    For those wondering where they got your number... Almost certainly they call every number they can on a predictive dialler and when a call connects they put a live person on to run the scam script. Given half of Australia is with Telstra, they will be correct about your ISP half the time.

    Anyway... blocked the number.

    Yet another call from "Telstra" about my internet security. Makes about 8 days in a row. They said 242 Exhibition St which is indeed but that was probably the only true fact. Getting VERY annoyed. Always an Indian type accent. They had the name as well but I'm not with Telstra.

    Calling up pretending to be from my internet provider. Wants me to go to my computer and follow the steps she tells me. Can't tell me my name for the account she is calling about.

    I don't answer unknown (mainly interstate) numbers & Google them if they don't leave a message.99% of the time the Google search shows that they're shit-bags. How do they manage to get Australian numbers? :(.

    These scammers call on daily basis. I don't understand how they manage to get a land line from Telstra. What sort of identification do they provide to Telstra?

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
