    I reported to Telstra through Telstra App re the faulty modem. A guy with an Indian accent rang me that he wants to sort out the modem issue. He know my full name but his facts were not correct. I cut the call. This is a scam number.

    Had major internet problems after a planned power outage! Advised Telstra who were unable to fix by phone! They phoned me on the 0294598000 number to arrange a suitable appointment with a technician! They then confirmed the appointment, again on “THAT” number. He came as planned and fixed the fault within minutes! Unfortunately, the Indian accent tends to make people suspect it’s a scam! Can guarantee it’s NOT!!

    Indian male caller knew my name and address and said my internet (National Broadband Network) connection was registering as faulty. I have become very suspicious of cold callers and asked this guy many questions. After stating that my National Broadband Network is working fine, he said he knows otherwise and that I know nothing about technology. He tried to overpower me so I hung up on him.

    Message left saying they were from Telstra and to phone them back on a 1800 number to discuss a reported fault. We haven’t reported a fault and don’t have a fault. Spoke to Telstra who confirmed phone number was not Telstra and they will never call customers to fix a fault, they always just update the fault via SMS. So number is a SCAM.

    Indian woman, definitely with the intention to scam, don't know how she got my name, email and previous reports I've had with Telstra but as soon as she asked for my verification code, I knew it was a scam.

    Received a phone call (1930hrs at night mind you!) from a young lady with a thick indian accent & spoke a million miles an hour claiming from Telstra that knew my name and knew I had email issues witch I found very unsettling to say the least....

    I've just hung up as I had a bad gut feeling & very dodgy.

    My experience any person who speaks with a indian accent are just trying to scam you & in this case it is no different.

    Relating to Email issue since 29th June. Ten calls over this period. I cannot understand the indian callers. Asked today if they're calling from India, answer YES. Today told me there would be a charge for what he was offering. I gave him the short shift. Very confusing?????? Scsm.

    Unknown missed call, I am expecting a Telstra callback however, but not at this timing, as other have said, a leak within Telstra or more likely their software/systems. They called at the same time as I recieved a text from a real Tesltra number!

    It's Telstra in relation to National Broadband Network issues. I have a current National Broadband Network breakdown. They tried to call and then I messaged back in the app. They needed more info/booking in repair dates.

    Seems legit National Broadband Network call as I received a notification on the Telstra app straight after saying they’re wanting to check if a fault is fixed. It’s not, but I can’t understand much of what the guy in voicemails is saying so I’d rather not deal.

    Scam!!!Scam!!! They are trying to get control of your modem and computer. I am sure if someone opened their modems to him/her, they would be downloading your info in a heart beat.

    Person with a very heavy Indian accent claiming to be from Telstra, telling me my complaint was fictional, and demanding I phone 1800 834 273 which is apparently a fake Telstra scam operation although it is also given as a genuine Telstra number. Telstra is so disgraceful its hard to tell who's a criminal imposter and who's genuine, I'm just confused.

    I was sure this was a scammer because the person sounded so dodgy and almost impossible to understand but later rang Telstra on the 1800 834 273 number and actually this was a genuine call. But not very professional to leave a message saying your case is 'fiction' and demanding you call back.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
