I seem to get at times 2 call a day on my Landline and just recently I get it on my Mobile Phone too Ironical as it my be I am registered with DO NOT CALL but it does not stop to get those calls and many other Numbers too some come from Cyprus or Central Australia NT.
I get the notion Do not Call must be selling our Phone numbers? Another useless institution loaded with useless Bureaucrats.
Yes I too had a message left from the ATO with an indian man telling me they would take legal action against me for back taxes. The tax office only contact me through my tax agent anyway and they don't have my home number. They must think that they can get away with it. So I asked them to come to my place and I'd pay cash. Ha they weren't to keen on doing that.
Yes I had the same call from the same number. I called back that number and told them that I have just report this to Australian feeder all police and that they also contact the Indian police.... So they know exactly where they are... And will come to say hello to them in about 30 min ....
I tried to called back the same number in 30 min later.... The number is disconnected .....
I too got a message from this woman claiming to be from the ATO, it was very threatening. I phoned the number and the person who answered asked for my tax file number, luckily I was already warey that it may be a scam, so I told him off and that there is no way I was going to give him my tax file number and then he abruptly hung up.

I received the same sort of phone call yesterday, from Jennifer Smith (very Indian accent)leaving the phone number (02) 9037 3808, saying I was being investigated for tax fraud & not to ignore the phone call, that I must call her back, which I didn't.
Left message for me to call her re: outstanding tax fraud debt...

I just got a scam call from this number too, same woman threatening legal action that the other comments mention.
Indian-accented lady calling herself "Jennifer Smith" rang 05/07/16 with a threatening message about tax fraud and arrest warrants being issued against me etc; left me the 9037 3808 number to call. Luckily I checked her name and that number on-line and found this blog prior to doing anything stupid :).
I had recently established a my. Gov account and 3 days later got the scam call on the number I used for that account. Scammers have obviously established a way to gather contact info off that website.
I also had a call from this number about a supposed tax fraud charge. I checked ATO scam page and they have advised that this has been around for a while and is totally a scam. Given that they do not even mention your name is also a bit of a giveaway.

Yes I just checked my landline messages today and received the exact same call from a lady called Jenny with a foreign accent supposedly from the ATO. The call came through on the last day of the financial year and clearly is a scam.
My parents are abroad and I am monitoring their messages and they received a very demanding & threatening sounding message on Wednesday from this same lady. Joke is on her - my dad is an ATO agent, hahaha! I am concerned about others who may be vulnerable to being taken advantage of though by this lady, so will be reporting it to the ATO.

Calls coming through on my mobile phone, purporting to be from Jennifer Smith of ATO. Threatening manner, claiming lawsuit pending due to tax fraud. Gives return number of (02) 90373808. Main concern is that these calls appear to be directed at the landline of a property whose owner is elderly; this landline diverts to my mobile. How many other elderly people are being targeted?
A call from this number pretending they are from the ATO it is a fraud and the name given is Jennifer Smith.

I just received same call today. Have reported it to police and ATO. It is a scam.
I had a phone call from this number, a guy asked he wants to talk to Mrs Thomson! I keep getting this stupid calls since few years ago and each time I used to say: you've got a wrong number but they kept talking.
This time, I said: she is not here right now so give me your number and I will pass it to her. So he gave me this number. When I asked so who is this? He said it is from taxation office!!!

As per the comments previously, I also have just arrived home with the same message on my home phone (which is not a listed phone number) also stating she was from the Australian Taxation Office and threatening me with legal action related to tax fraud etc etc- the phone number is also 02-90373808.
30.06.16 I got home and found a message on my phone from a foreign woman who was at times hard to understand saying that I need to call 0290373808 stating that there is a Legal law suit against my name concerning tax fraud by the ATO and she needed further information about my BAAS taxes and to get back in contact with them ASAP and not to ignore as this time sensitive. She said if I don't call back, I will take all the legal actions against you possible in Australia and after that you will be the only person responsible and all possible actions available in Australia will be taken against you and then wished me a good day. It doesn't even say who the message is for and then wished me a good day and good bye.
