    Multiple calls from this number, (2 Aug.8 Sept & 17 Sept) answered 1 of them, claiming to be RAC, which happens to be the insurance company for the other party for a recent accident in July. Unable to call back, did not leave a message.

    Had an accident was the others drivers fault was on phone to his insurance while on hold to my Suncorp insurance.

    Had a missed call and thought it was Suncorp calling me back as I had inadvertently hung up on them while talking to RACQ.

    Was some insurance scam they knew my name and the other drivers name.

    I didn’t confirm any details and toLd them it was already sorted out.

    Told me I could ring back if I needed any help.

    Scam. Called me on a Sunday after an accident where I was not at fault claiming to be Budget (the at fault driver’s insurer). Put me in contact with Tamms and then arranged a hire car for me through Right2Drive. The real Budget insurance are not open on Sundays and do not care that people are imitating them and giving out false insurance advice. Ready Towing collected my car from the accident and gave my information to this scam company. Scum bags.

    I got into a car accident and the other party got my number. Someone named Simon called me from this number in a matter of hours presented as an independent Claims Department got my name, the other party name correctly and offered a hire car, as I'm not at fault. This does look legit and dodgy in the same time.

    Dodgy - as it's Sunday, no one really works on Sundays, right?

    Legit - as why would they have my name then? Unless the other part is involved in the scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
