    I have received calls from this phone number for nearly three years. The persons speaking on the phone are a male and a female (not at the same time). They have Indian accents and poor English skills. Sometimes they claim to be from the Rural Fire Service NSW or some other Fire Fighting organisation and they ask for donations. Other times they claim to be searching for someone specific and ask to speak to so-and-so. I told them this person is dead. Then they claim to be from The Royal Society for the Blind Australia and say that the person they are looking for (deceased) owes them money and they seek information to determine if you are family of said person. This is so they can demand monetary recourse through you (the phone answerer). By the way, I don't know my former phone-line owner. Other times they say they're from the Royal Society for the Blind and ask straight- out for donations.

    I've done some research and I know this is an absolute SCAM. These SCAMMERS are not associated with any actual charity or genuine Australian company. I have told them to F### O## numerous times but they persist in their harassment. DON'T GIVE THESE SCAMMING CON-ARTISTS A SINGLE CENT!!!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
