    They almost got me til I found this page on Google thank you for your comments, after I repeatedly rang them back and abused them to tie up their phone in the hope it might prevent them from scamming other Aussies, I made them crack and they started abusing me back and calling me names and told me they are in Pakistan and they believe what they are doing so not a scam it's an art, I ask other Aussies to help tie up their phone lines and make their call centre unable to scam anyone else.

    Yep got the call today also from this number. Voice automated message in American accent. Scam, not worth the call back. If you're in trouble with the ato I'm sure it would be a personalised call, not automated.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
