    I got called by this number and another one a few days before it and I called the ATO on the other phone and when I got through to the scammer he was very rude telling me he was going to read me a legal document and I shouldn't interrupt him, than I asked if I could pay this magic Dept off with a credit card he said that's fine, I can halve the fee as well, after that I told him I had the ATO on the other line and would need his client number, than he hanged up. I hate these calls, they are very abusive and annoying. Cheers.

    I am going to have a warrant and be arrested if I don't call this number back from the Australian Tax Office. If I wasn't so busy I would call them back and stir them up!

    Got a call from this number telling me that there is a tax investigation against me and I might get arrested if I don't call back. Ignored it as ATO doesn't call you to but send mail. Stupid scam attempt ;-).

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
