Caller from this number - at 1.50 pm on a football afternoon – had a heavy foreign accent, said her name was Mary and she was ringing from Optus to offer me a 40% discount off my bill for 7 months because I had been a good customer. (As if that would believe that of Optus!)

She then tried to 'confirm' my email address, which had enough in common with my actual address to think they had my phone number and partial email details. When I said it wasn't correct, she straight out asked for the address. I hung up, saying I would ring Optus directly. Reverse AU check didn't bring up Optus as owner of the number or reports of scams using the number before now.
