    Male caller asking if I or any of my family had been in a car accident last April. I said no and if I had I would have exchanged contact details with the other person at the scene. I ask the number plate of the cars involved. Avoided answer. I said this is a scam call don't call again. Man apologised and hung up quickly. Absolute SCAM don't give them any information. I tried to call the number back but it doesn't allow incoming calls.

    Scam phone call!

    Saying that its to do with a car accident.

    The girl on the phone wasn't confident at all with what she was saying. She said "Hi this call is about a car accident, is this correct?" I said no and then she said "oh okay" then hung up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
