    Had the pleasure of receiving an email from Evia Heerkes today. Same scam and phone number. Called and played really dumb. Seems they get upset after a bit of fun on the phone.

    I've just got the same number on a scam PayPal account for $670Aud. Haven't rung the number as I know it's a scam. They can't get into any of my bank accounts regardless.

    I was asked to call this number in an email I was sent saying that I had made a recent purchase on eBay. I did not make any purchase and the email said to call the number if I thought the transaction was fraudulent. The person I spoke to wanted me to log onto my laptop and give him more details to cancel the transaction. When I refused he said that I had no come back if transaction did turn out to be fraudulent. I called him out as the scammer and he hung up.

    Yes, received an email to say Amanda Fayette purchased an iPhone 14 Pro under my PayPal email address. Upon calling this number I was told the transaction has been blocked but I had to download zoho_assistcustomer on my phone to cancel my PayPal account. Beware - it is a scam. They called me back from these other numbers 03 9192 4983 and 03 7045 5093.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
