What Our Users Reviewed
I received a call from 02 7238 7484 claiming to be Optus ringing to resolve a email issue that I was actually having with Optus. It was like they listened into my Optus call and then rang me. The caller advised that to enable him to fix my issue that he would need to log into my phone and he downloaded "Anydesk" and to cut a long story short, scammed me. He advised me that my IP address was made public and that scammers where accessing my accounts and he needed access to my phone to see how much access these scammer had.. This obviously was a lie. He got into my zip account and purchased two eBay gift cards, although due to my actual Optus issue of not being able to receive emails, the scammer did not get access to the cards. He had an Indian accent which was difficult to understand, although I had been speaking with an Optus calling earlier in the day with the same type of accent. Before hanging up on him, I asked to speak with his supervisor, which was the thing that made me very suspicious. After I hung up from him, he rang me back on this mobile number 0489 994 198. He had joined himself to my GMAIL account as "OnePlus 9RT 5G" from West Bengal, India. It was my bank Suncorp that alerted me through a phone call to advise that there had been suspicious activity on my bank account. I had to wipe my phone and then go in and change every password on my 335 accounts and apps. It has been a nightmare having this happen. Word of advice, use this website and never call back a number unless they leave a message, and then still check that they are legitimate. I do not answer or respond to any thing now. I also received a text message from 519770 that says "Centrelink" you have a new message. I logged onto my mygov account and there is nothing, so this is a scam as well.
Rang back - "the number you called is disconnect" Blocked.
I did not answer the call. When I tried to call back from another phone, it rang three times before failing to connect. It seems to be a likely scam call.
