I reported this caller as a scammer and have subsequently blocked their number. Stay cautious!
Nothing to do with tax. Last 2 weeks had 3 calls left on answering service. Asian sounding man, vey intimidating, threatening saying he is from Australian Court building in my area, no such thing & he is threatening stern action & serious consequences for me if I don't ring him back on 0261452809 concerning impending court case. I have no court case & have never had any reason to go to court. He has tried to scam, scare, threaten other people & only wants money because he says he is the only one who can make this matter go away. Never answer this number or hang up when he identifies himself & never return the call.
This person rang our landline today requesting that we ring back about serious tax evasion and fraud that is time sensitive and if we didn't ring IGO headquarters (number above) to find out information about our case file we would have to be prepared to pay serious legal consequences. Just got call from 61452809 with message left. They state they are the ITO. Stupid. Tried calling it back 16 times (my number blocked) and they actually answerred once but the minute I asked for more info they hung up.
Got 3 messages of the same recorded strange accent (computerise American), has to be a scam surely but I will call the ATO to check. It's not beyond them to put something out that seems like a scam and then charge you for not calling them back.
