Glad to hear it's a scam. I received the same pre-recorded message mentioning an affidavit, house under surveillance etc.
I just had exactly the same call about an affidavit being filed against me by the ATO and my house being under surveillance, so immediately googled the number.
Same crap except recorded Aussie voice message about the house being under surveillance by the ATO.
I'll give them ATO with a cricket bat between the ears if I ever catch hold of them - scammers from the sub-continent.

American accented guy calling with claims to be a crime officer re: tax evasion. As a temporary resident filing taxes, I was caught totally off guard so stayed on longer than most. This person is very manipulative with a well-rehearsed scam.

Recorded message from ATO saying my house was under surveillance as someone had filed an affidavit against me and to call back otherwise legal action. They would send a letter. Scam.
Guy picked up and said jacks investigations how may I help you and I said who is this, I got a call from you. They hanged up.
Got the same call. Glad to see that this is a scam? maybe? The voice I heard was a robot voice. After I answered the call, it started playing, cut out, and then started again.
Just had the same call about from ATO etc etc and I am avoiding tax I need to call them immediately called back :) nothing then found this scammers what will they think of next grrr time wasters :(.
Supposed to be from Tax Office/CDPP July 22 11.46am.
Says that there is a case for Tax Evasion against me and to call back on 0261403474 urgently and not to ignore the call. Tried to call back as was requested more than once but line is "not connected, silent or busy tone".
I believe that it is some sort of scam but would have liked to abuse them for it.
Got a message left this morning from an Asian/American saying that we were in debt to the taxation department and a summons is due to be issued unless we contact them and give details. Not so stupid as to even ring them back. We are aware that if we are in default the Taxation Dept will contact us by letter! A scam for sure! Do not even ring them back.
Just had the same message from Asian American sounding recorded message. Stated there was a case of tax evasion and willful fraud against "your name". Demanded that I call them back immediately and do not disregard this message. Who can this be reported to?
Had a threatening message left on my phone demanding I call this number as the ato had a law suit against me for tax evasion.... I rang the number and noone answered..... Very threatening and scary message.
I've just had a call asking me to ring this number, the caller said that he was calling about a civil action by the ATO against me and I needed to call this number urgently.
Just had the same caller sounded legit but quickly checked and found this site. Scammers let them send a letter with atos letter heads.

Caller with a weird accent (trying to sound British!) claims they are from ATO and you have been earmarked for tax evasion. Caller is very dramatic and someone less cynical than me would probably get scared and panic. They want you to call back (and presumably scare you into giving them your account details). Total scam and don't worry about it. The real ATO communicates via post.

Received a call from "Officer Eric Foster" from the Australian Taxation Office. Asian/American accent. Didn't know our names, Just stated that a there has been "Notice Issued against your name" Ring back straightaway or we will file a case against you. Partner called back and it rang out.
This is a scam phone number. Someone States that they are from the ATO and there is a warrant out for your arrest due to an error in your tax return. They are very aggressive and give a fake name (if any). They did know my last name but the ATO has confirmed it is a scam.
