Approx June 2015 We got a call from 'Kenneth Matthews' English accent, about an 'ATO' error re tax obligation and that our adress was 'under surveilance. From this number 02 6140 3464. My husband contacted our accountant (who we always go through) and he advised it was a scam, as if there was any problem, they always contact him first in 'writing'. I don't get how these people get away with stealing from unsuspecting victims!
I also got a call from Officer Kenneth Matthews on 9/6/2015 from the ATO was a bit confused at first thought I could not have any tax that's incorrect cause for years and years we get our tax done by our accountant I would have thought my accountant would be ringing me if there was a problem so I thought it must be a scam.
Dear old Ken is still on the job. He's got me under surveillance too. Busy guy! I dialled the number out of curiosity, got a few clicks and static (no ring tone), then a Russian Accented voice saying "Number not available at this time". Piss Off Ken!!
Yep. Also received this call today from 'Kenneth Mathews'. At first it was worrying. But the way he chose his words was really suspicious. What a cow.
This jerk rang us on the 12/6/15.
He simply left a message stating he was Kenneth Mathews from the ATO and we were in error with our tax obligation and filing a petition against my name. He further stated it was about to go to court soon if we didn't call back and sort it out and that our house address is now under surveillance.
The thick accent caught my attention and the strange number being 02 61403464 he gave to call back also gave me a strong clue it was a hoax. Knowing I had done nothing wrong I wasn't too worried especially now seeing the same issues from the same guy above.
Someone needs to do something about this for its a very direct attempt at probably scamming for credit card details guessing he would have asked for money etc if I had gone to the trouble to call him back and not found all this evidence on line.

Kenneth must have had a busy day today. I had the same call.
I too got a message from Kenneth Matthews saying he was from the ATO and they had been identified a problem with my tax obligations and I should as soon as possible. Number to call was 02 61403464.
Called them the next day and a Luke Amandi asked for my legal representation as they were proceeding with a court prosecution. Where I suspected a scam and baulked at their requests, he hung up on me.
I have since made complaint to ACCC's Scamwatch.
Got a call message from a Kenth Mathews (sounding like he was from the Uk and or South Africa, had bad line noise).
Sagesting he was from the ATO and we are to return a call asap as we are being monitored for some infringment that is easily corrected should we call.
The number left is 0261403464.
