Yes we received the same call earlier today as a voice message on our home no. The message was threatening and requesting we call back a number connecting to the ATO. I called back and spoke to a man with a foreign accent challenging him directly about the message and specifically its threatening nature. We had an unpleasant exchange and he hung up on me. We have reported this matter to the ATO.

I got the same call yesterday 30/7/15 at 9.45am from a man saying he was Jason O'Connor and to call the Australian Taxation Office on 02 6140 3445 or my husband would be arrested for his illegal use of his cash spending and he police would arrive to arrest him and to avoid this he had to back on the number listed. He left his details twice. Another scam!!!!!!!

I also got the same message from Jason O'Connor on 0261403445 along with another call from the Commonwealth Courthouse in my State on 0261528641. The fact that Jason leaves his name and number twice makes one wonder if it is official. We had our doubts and fortunately checked it out on Google. The man calling on the second number didn't give his name, but it certainly was tired into Jason's call.

This phone number is being used by foreign persons purporting to be the Australian Tax Office. The caller identifies themselves as either Jason O'Connor or Sam Wilson & goes on to explain that they have undertaken an audit & you are charged with tax evasion & the paperwork is ready to go to the court in your state/jurisdiction. Their aim is to intimidate through threatening tones & words with the desire to bully you in to agreeing to 3 conditions. Condition 2 is that you remain on the line, your mobile, with threats that if you disconnect that they will lodge the paperwork with the courts. With this they also refer to freezing of bank accounts, stays on properties & publication of your fraudulent activities that your families & friends will see. The final condition is that you go to your bank whilst the person remains on the line (although they tell you not to talk to them whilst you are in the bank)& following this they will 'organise' with the DPP for a special account number that the money must go in to. I expect that the 'special' account will be payable at the post office however I didn't get to that final bit. The person expects you to leave the line open whilst you are talking to the bank teller when taking out the cash so that they can hear the transaction occuring. As I muted the call at this time they became very abusive when I returned to the street & my game of cat & mouse ended but either way these people are slime & they are continuing their attempts to steal from innocent people.
