02 6140 3438: Scam - ATO Tax Fraud Threat

This person called Jennifer Smith saying she is from ATO and has legal case against me for fraud. Ato would write a letter not call. ..

They called and left a message on answering machine. Threating call that said about a tax form and arrest warrant for me . " bloody scammers !!!!

Pretend taxation talking about legal lawsuits for tax fraud, saying they have a warrant for your arrest!!! Really stressed me out! Not that it knows your name and it just refers to you as "your name". I was wondering what anyone is this household could have done!!!!! Not good for people who pay their taxes especially or in bad heart health!!! They need to be shut down! Asian/indian? woman. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!

Same message left on my answering machine for a second time. Definitely a scam but I worry that they could easily dupe someone.

Had the same message to call them back. I realised it was a scam, but called them back anywaY. The guy (indian/pakistani) asked for my name. Because I wouldn't give it to him, he told me to "f... off you stupid bitch". Seriously these guys are idiots!

I am an Accountant and we have received calls from a couple of clients asking what is going on as they are being threatened and to call this number back to pay $15.000 by the end of the day. We reassured them that it was a scam and they are not liable to Tax Office. Ignore them and report it to the police.

Do not give these people your information, but I do encourage you to give them fake information and mess around with them for awhile lol. But seriously, this is a scam and if you do get a call from this number or asked to call back please give there information to the ATO, AFP & Telstra so they can find out who is doing it and hopefully get them charged with fraud...

Message on my answering machine telling me there was an urgent legal matter needing my attention and if I didn't return the call to this number there would be a warrant put out for my arrest for fraud. Somewhat convincing as a name and number was given but message was not very clear.

Got a call today (not from this number though) saying to call back the number listed to avoid 'potential arrest'.

When I called, I was answered with 'This is the Australian Tax Office' when I probed more, I got a 'get the hell outta here' ...

I also received a phone call from this number from the "Tax Department" saying I was going to be arrested for Tax Fraud... To the company phone.

I was also rung by this number "(07) 3018 7514" telling me I have an arrest warrant for Tax Evasion or something similar to that, and telling me I need to ring this number "(02) 6140 3438" and that it was urgent. Too bad I was too late to pick up the phone. I really wanted to mess with this fool.

I received a message on my answering machine today from the same number saying there was a law suite against my name and I will be charged with fraud.

And if I didn't contact them discuss this I would be arrested.

"Jason O'Connor" in a recorded American accent. Demanding a return call for unpaid taxes/fraud to (02) 6140 3438. Reported same to ACCC Scamwatch. Perhaps action may be taken at least for improper use of Telecommunication Equipment to discourage these parasitic losers and their cowardly scams.

I got a message on my answering machine today saying there is a legal law suit case against me from the tax office in Canberra, and to call this number immediately. He had an American accent and sounded very convincing. Luckily, I googled the no to find it's a scam.

I have had the phone call on the same subject as above... It is a scam be aware!... I have checked out and definitely they trying to get you paying the supposedly fine!

I got a message on my answering machine today. Saying there is a tax fraud case against me from the tax office in Canberra, and to call this number immediately. American accent and a muffled sound, the message was not clear, like an old recording.

I got a phone call today saying that I was under investigation for tax evasion and that I had to ring a Geoffrey Morgan. I thought straight away it had to be a scam as they didn't say my name and I figured if I was in trouble it wouldn't be left as a message on an answering machine.

The accent is American, they say either yourself or your attorney are to call them back on this number, attorney is a foreign thing to say in this country. I would advise you to not contact them rather report them to the ATO instead. If it's important you would receive a notice with a legitimate letterhead and an appropriate time to respond.

Got a message left on my answering machine 4 days ago, stating I was under investigation for tax evasion, etc., etc.. Suspecting it was a scam, I contacted my accountant to check. They told me that it was indeed a scam, and that I should expect more calls, with each one being a little more menacing than the previous one. I received another call today, this one telling me that my address was under surveillance. This time they told me I needed to call another number ((03) 9999 7315).

It was a scam. Tax evasion and fraud!

I also got a voicemail message saying that it was Billings and Taxation Office and that we were contacted for tax evasion and willful prosecution. Number was 02 6140 3438.

Same as above. It's silly that the line is busy. May be too many people are scammed by this.

Contacted the ATO this morning after the wife had received a call from this number and requesting we phone an Andrew Watson on this number. The ATO mentioned they were aware of this scam and remaindered people that all official correspondence to an individual would go thru an individual's MyGov account.

I've just received a message saying to call this number urgently as our name has been listed for a fraud and tax evasion case! Tried to return call but kept getting the busy tone. I'm in Perth. Glad to see its a scam and not real. Now to try and get to sleep!

I also had a voice message today saying they were the ATO representing the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and that they had a case file against me for tax fraud and wilful tax evasion and for me or my attorney to call 0261403438 immediately. They did not say who they were or stated who in my household they were referring to.

I received a message about tax fraud - rang the number but it is engaged - I am from Perth.

I received a call from a silent number saying it was the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions about a case that had been filed regarding willful fraud and tax evasion, and to call 02 6140 3438 urgently. I have reported this scam to the ATO.

I got the call as well, thought it was a scam but called the number anyway. It was engaged.

I too received this same message this morning on my answering machine about tax evasion ands wilful fraud.

I assume after googling the number and landing here that it is a scam but I intend to call the ATO and report it.

I received a call exactly the same this morning !!!!

Now I know it is a scam because they really frightened me.

This number is being used as part of a scam threatening tax evasion & fines purportedly from the ATO.

I to today came home to this message about the ATO and fraud and to ring this number. I twigged it was a scam and googled the number to be found correct. Don't call them back.

SCAMMER! Do not give any private details. Saying you have evaded the ATO and for you, or your, attorney to contact them.

Scammer claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Department and tracking non-payment of tax and fraud. Beware!
