    First I received a text from McAfee a few weeks back (reported as spam) saying my McAfee was up for renewal, then I received and email this morning saying they will renew today $419 and call this number if you wish to cancel. It was already installed on my new laptop last year early March, but I uninstalled it and paid for another Anti virus. I called the number the guy wanted me on speaker phone then asked me if I had an android or apple phone, I said what's that got to do with renewing a subscription that I didn't have in the first place and then click he hung up! Thanks for the other reviews I will call McAfee direct.

    Got a similar message from somewhere saying they were McAfee and that I had 24 hrs to contact them to stop the $19 automatic subscription charge from being charged to my account. Not very good grammar or punctuation and looks fake and a scam.

    Have just received an email from Stallast Dundsa requesting AUD$419.00 for McAfee renewal. The number suggested for their customer care is: +61 2 6110 1478. I have deleted the email and certainly not called the number.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
