I received a call from this number with a voice recording saying that it was the ATO and I needed to ring them back on this number or the local authorities will be summons.
I 2 received a call purporting to be the Australian Tax Office. I returned the call and the voice was a robotic message. Have contacted ATO to report. You can check on any communication that you are not sure about, or report a phone scam, by phoning us on 13 28 61 from 8:00am – 6:00pm (AEST) Monday to Friday. Here is the REAL website to ATO. Left a message saying failure to ring back could result in legal action - the gist of it was that I had been listed in tax fraud. I rang the number back and the voice answered as the Aust Tax Office - I said I don't think so and the line went dead. Quite a threatening message - seemed to be a recorded message.
Call claimed to be from the ATO, and the automated voice said that my name was associated with tax fraud. All manner of claims as to what would happen to me if I didn't return the call. Obviously a scam, as the ATO (Australian Tax Office) doesn't work like this.
What a joke. I also got a threatening voice message (American Male) to recommend my Attorney call that number back & don't ignore the message or I will be reported to all authorities and my life would be a legal mess. Of course I ignored this threat, but others may not and I pity the vulnerable and elderly. These creeps need to be locked up for good.
Just got some robot claiming to be ATO advising that my attorney call this number, im gonna say file this one under SPAM.
Just got this too... I said 'Which tax office' and he says 'Canberra'...I said 'Well I just got a message from you and it was an American recorded message' and he says 'Really? Have a nice day' and hung up. Dodgy...
Scammer! Called me and hung up when I answered, probably because I didn't sound like a little old lady.
Then I called back, he answered 'Hello, ATO', whereupon I told him to take a long walk on a short jetty.
Have received 3 calls from this number + 6100 3060 + 6100 4343 and they advise they are from ATO and that I should contact them immediately as I have outstanding debts to the ATO? DODGY recorded message with American accept!
