Just had this 10 minutes ago from 02 6100 3071. Beware, it's still going on and could be any 02 6100 xxxx number.
I missed a call from these sneaky rats yesterday. They left a robotic voicemail (tax department don't leave voicemails people, they send letters!!!) out of curiosity I decided to call the number back and bam got through straight away (also a dream getting through straight away to the ATO lol) it was a busy call center in background. Some guy with a pathetic Aussie accent answered (he sounded South African) and I told him I missed a call and I said my first name, he then states my first and last name, and tells he is an ATO officer and I've been done for tax fraud bla bla bla, I immediately asked for his name and his agent number and some other questions then I cracked it and told him that he is full of shit and he hung up on me!!!
Be careful guys the ATO would not contact you in this way, I had an 8k tax debt back in the day and I was alerted by a letter in the mail..

I received this same phone call at 8.30am this morning. A message was left with a robotic voicemail message. The grammar used by the robot was a the tip-off for me that it was a scam. I couldn't imagine a genuine ATO employee saying "If you don't call back it result in big legal mess for you".
Thanks to all the previous comments, now I'd like to know how the scammer got my phone number.
Received call stating same as indicated.. VOip and threats. I haven't responded either but hearing message at 10 pm was concerning as no one to call to verify until finding this site. Thank you.

I got a robotic voice message saying that there was an affidavit of tax fraud next to my name and that I had to call this number back which was the ATO. When I did, the guy on the other side gave me his Badge ID number, ATO code number and case ID number saying that there's an affidavit of fraud against my name from the years of 2008-2012, in relation to Chaper 13, Section 13c of some code, and that I needed to pay $2800 straight over the phone. If I disconnected the call, they would download the case into the local police department to start the legal action against me and cops would be at my house in 30mins to give me formal notice. If I chose to hang up and go through the courts, and I lost, the ATO could sue me for $45k. He knew my name and my old address so it felt weird but in the end I knew it was scam so hung up.

Got a call from this number; caller claimed to be from the ATO - saying that they found some discrepancies in my tax return of the amount of $2400 and that I can either amend that mistake or they start legal proceedings against me.
I became concerned then asked them for written statements to be sent out; the guy claimed that they had sent letters but I was never home to receive them because they supposedly needed to be signed for.
I asked to arrange a pick-up of said documents at which point the guy replied that I was being difficult and that the ATO was going to take legal action against me instead. At this point he hung up the phone.
I called my tax agent after which is very doubtful about the nature of the call. I then tried calling back several times but the phone rang a couple of times then rejected.

Thank you everyone for your comments. The phone call is very disturbing and confronting. I heard the message but had to go into a meeting and couldn't concentrate. As soon as I got out, I googled the number and saw the comments on Australia Reverse Phone Lookup. It's great that people can quickly comment on this and make the lives of others easier.
Pretending to be from the ATO and trying to get me to pay them monies apparently outstanding otherwise there were sending police over to attest me in 30minutes.

Got a call this morning, ATO threatening legal action etc....
I too got the automated voicemail informing me of tax fraud. Called back and the operator was able to confirm my home address. Demanded payment of $2975 immediately or would launch an affidavit for a court summons.
Couldn't provide any written paperwork, I was told that I would receive that after the account had been settled by credit card.
Subsequently called the ATO and they confirmed there was no outbound calls or red flags on my account.

An Indian guy left a message asking me to contact with regard to tax file. I called back and ask me my mobile number. But hung up when I asked questions. Spam for sure.
They left a voicemail claiming to be from the ATO and it was in relation to tax fraud. Don't return call.. Just another scam.
