What Our Users Reviewed
I did have a missed call from this number and left a voicemail which I returned. Exactly what others have stated here, I was supposed to be arrested for tax fraud and blah blah, if I wanted to resolve it or challenge it. After 30 mins of discussion, I said I cant afford to settle any amount today and was told to wait for someone to call me another day. I had a feeling from the start it was a scam call as I'm sure I would've have received some letters regarding the matter.
I too just received a call from 02 6100 3006.
It was a cold call with a recorded message stating I am up for tax fraud.
So I call the number back and the Indian guy states he is from the ATO and that he needs my name to bring up the account.
I give him my first name and 5 seconds later states my full name perfectly.
I immediately ask him how does he know my surname if I haven't given it to him. Agitated he states that he is from the ATO and that we know everything about you.
I then say this doesn't make sense and he tells me to "F*** off" and hangs up.
Tried calling back but the call is always engaged.
What I think happens is that they know some of your details which comes up via mobile calling ID. Once they know you know, they bar your mobile.
Tried calling from a land line and same thing, call engaged.
I had a call from the same number saying a warrant was issued under my name and was going to be arrested/taken to court due to tax evasion and all assets and bank accounts frozen as of tomorrow. Later when I called back asking for more details, he was like you can avoid this if you pay upfront the debt owing amount. Only thing was I was not to do it via any electronic means, I was to get the cash and then call them back or wait for their call to be advised on how to make the payment.
I just received a call too. They waited and hung up!
The guy sounds like Indian. Hard for me to understand. He mentioned himself as a Australia blah blah criminal officer. He said my name correctly. He said I should have received some compliant letter. I told him I haven't receive any letter like that and asked him about the address. He said an incorrect address. I couldn't understand the suburb he was saying.
I have problem to understand his accent so I ask him to repeat some questions twice. It seemed that he got pissed off and he asked me whether I have any problem. I told him I got confused because someone called me who knows my name, phone number, but not address and claim himself as a government officer and saying something I don't understand. He said "Ok, Ok, do not call me again. See you. Bye bye".
