Yes I have had the same call from this scumbag as the number to call him on is available why haven't the authority's done something about this arsehole .It's no wonder people do try these scams when the authorities do nothing.
This number is being used to scam people out of money by saying that you have a tax debt and need to pay it ASAP otherwise the ATO till get the police to arrest you.

Yes, also just got a fright with a call from Kenneth Matthews from the ATO and a registered agent with the CDDP, saying unfortunately there is a case against me at the CDDP for tax evasion and tax avoidance - THAT was the big clue this was a scam. You cannot be charged for tax avoidance because tax avoidance is legal!!! Looked up my ATO account to see if any communication outstanding - no. Looked to see if any scams - yes. Checked the whitepages for Kenneth's number - and found this site. Scammer definitely. Haven't spoken to him but have his voice on my answerphone. I will be taking this to the ATO and CDDP and Police.

Called me today saying he was from the Australian Taxation Department and due to my wife's' bereavement I owe $50k, but would settle now if I could send $5k to a Western Union account. I hung up on him, tried to call back a number of times but no answer. I gave it a rest for a while then got through, a man with a slight Asian accent answered as Australian Taxation Office to which I said oh that's odd as I'm from the ATO. He hung up on me.
I called the real ATO and reported this call and the number and they advised they would investigate.
Man called Kenneth Matthews. Saying there is a case against us for tax avoidance. Left the same number for us to return call.
He now calls himself Alex Cooper - foreign accent - hung up when I asked him for the details he had on file for me.
Yep just got a call from Kenneth Matthews from the CDPP ie. Commonwealth Directors of Public Prosecution regarding Tax evasion & Tax avoidance from the Australian Taxation office & to call him back l rang the number & it rang for a bit then they hung up.

The call I received was essentially the same as posted previously (Kenneth Matthews). I didn't bother ringing back as I knew it was a scam. There is no such department as the "Commonwealth Department of Public AND Prosecutions".

I got a call from 'Kenneth Matthews' and called him back on 02 6064 2026. Same deal: tax evasion, will be arrested, bank accounts frozen, etc. I asked him for my tax file number, which he wouldn't give. He offered me a way to settle out of court. He got shirty when I wouldn't give him my mobile number.
