Voicemail message left on my mobile on 7/09/2017 after missed call (from 02 5306 2287) claiming to be ATO Office. Message said that it was about a legal complaint under my name for tax avoidance and tax fraud. OBVIOUSLY A SCAM... ATO does not contact Australian residents in this manner.
This a hole called and harrased my partner for like an hour on the phone saying she owed $3984 and payments needed to me made today or the police would be around on Monday to take all her possessions and she would be in court on Monday! Then kept talking to the "supervisor" apparently going on hold but really wasn't and listening in the conversation. Pushed her for making a payment right away and more payments after that, was very rude and abrubt and using scare tactics to put her on edge. The funny thing is she called the ato when the last call came in and no amounts were outstanding. They are very good at fearing people into making immediate payments. Some fast talking indian guy! Beware, more of us need to report this so these people are arrested! Currently calling the ATO and police about this but everyone else needs to do the same or nothing will be done and more people will end up feeling sick and worried like my partner :(.
These people left a message on my mobile advising that it is serious and they are about to put out a warrant for my arrest! I rang them back and told them to F#$% off.
I also kept the recording and rang the ATO and reported them, so hopefully these vile people will be dealt with.
I got a call from this number a moment ago. Indian fella. Hung up on him but then rung him back. I've recently been scammed in an overseas investment scam so I called him back to ask him why. A different Indian fella answered and said it was the ATO. I told him he was hurting Australian families and asked why he was doing this? He said the cost of living in Australia was high and we are all driving Porsche GTSs while he was driving a Camry. He then said "Don't compare yourself to F*$#@$ me!" and hung up.
It is honestly sad that people like this feel like they need to leech off of others. Sad!

I called the number back from a land line. An indian man answered saying Australian Taxation Office. I hung up as I know there would be no reason I would be getting a call from the ATO in BATHURST!!!
Definitely a scam message/call. This is an identity theft attempt. They probably already have some info of you from your online profiles and they just need your TFN to complete the picture. Do not give out any information. Hang up!
