WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Is 13 23 07 a real Centrelink phone number?
No. 132307 is not an official Services Australia contact number. Scammers are using this local-rate number in fake Centrelink letters and SMS messages. Services Australia will never ask you to call a number in an unsolicited letter or SMS to verify your account details. Always access your account through mygov.au or call Services Australia using the number on their official website, not numbers provided in unexpected communications.
What should I do if I clicked a link from a message mentioning 132307?
If you clicked a link from an SMS claiming to be from Centrelink and mentioning 13 23 07, act immediately. Change your myGov password from a secure device, monitor your bank account for unauthorised transactions, and contact your bank to report suspected fraud. Report the SMS to ACMA (acma.gov.au) and Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au). Do not click any further links or download files related to 132307.
Why are scammers using 13 23 07 instead of impersonating Centrelink directly?
Using a local-rate number like 132307 makes the scam appear more credible and official. Contributors report receiving letters with 13 23 07 printed as a contact number, adding to the fake legitimacy. This tactic exploits people's trust in government services. Always verify by contacting Services Australia directly through official channels, not numbers provided in unsolicited communications.
What makes these 13 23 07 scams convincing?
Reports indicate these scams use multiple tactics: physical letters that look official, SMS messages with urgency, reference to real Centrelink processes (like account updates), and requests for information that seem plausible. One contributor noted scammers already knew their full name and suburb, suggesting data from previous breaches. This makes 132307 communications especially convincing. Always verify independently through mygov.au.
Should I block 13 23 07 on my phone?
Yes. Contributors strongly recommend blocking 132307 immediately. This number appears on multiple scam tracking websites and has been used consistently to facilitate phishing attacks and impersonation fraud. Blocking prevents accidental calls to the scam number if you receive an unsolicited message referencing it.
How can I tell if a Centrelink communication is real?
Real Services Australia communications will not ask you to click external links, call provided phone numbers, or share bank details via unsolicited messages. To verify any Centrelink issue, go directly to mygov.au by typing the address into your browser (do not click links from emails or SMS), log in, and check your messages. If you have questions, call Services Australia using the number on their official website, not any number provided in unexpected communications or associated with 132307.
