    New scam phone number for WX2754 con.

    02 8006 1164.

    If you are being investigated for Tax, the ATO will call you directly and speak to you. They are also likely to send you something in writing.

    If you have a warrant out for your arrest, you probably already know about it...

    Hi everyone,

    I have received same kind of a call from no.0280114005 with no. wx2754. I completely went into a trauma as listening about warrant and arrest. Later on, I was supported by my family and understood that, that was not the real taxation office. If I wouldn't be with my family, who else would have helped me out from panic. This should has to get stopped. Stay aware and safe..!

    Received scam message at approximately 9am on Tuesday 29 August 2017... Supposedly from Taxation office...

    The messages quotes a reference number WX2754... And says... "As there is a legal case going to be filed against your name, including warrant for your arrest. Now before the case is sent for execution, and you have received the legal course of notification, you can call the taxation office on 02 5306 2279, The number again 02 5306 2279. Don't ignore.".

    It smelt and sounded very authentic but the only problem is there are a few of us who use the landline and live at this address... So are they going to arrest all of us.. haha..

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
