I believe this might be a scam using the Commonwealth Bank's name. I received an email informing me that I had successfully registered a new device to my account, which raised my suspicion.

Scam email with subject "New Device registered on NetBank". Gets your attention, but never fall for these. Always look at the email more closely.1) "Dear Valued Customer" (does not address me by name); 2) At first glance, the sender is "Commonwealth Bank of Australia", but the sender is really vinzent.frisch08@htl-salzburg.ac.at; 3)"We are delighted to inform you that your new device (iPhone XR) has been successfully registered with CommBank on 12/10/2023." Today's date is 14/10/2023. A legitimate email would have come through immediately. The scammer has timezone and distribution issues!

Don't ever call a number that has been sent to you. Instead look up the correct listed phone number for the company/bank and call that. Then ask them. If it's genuine someone there will be able to help you.

Hope that helps!

Dodgy email stating an iPhone has been added to CommBank app. I’m almost attempted to call the number to take the scammers for a ride.

I received an email asking me to click on a link that appears to be a scam aimed at stealing my Commonwealth Bank details. It's highly suspicious and should be avoided.
